About Us

WHAT IS LET’S TALK LOCAL – KAIPATIKI / NORTHCOTE?

A blog where Kaipatiki Local Board & Northcote Electorate’s politicians and candidates answer your questions. Questions are sent to them at a rate of one a week. Their answers are directly copied and pasted into the blog. Nothing is edited (including spelling and grammar).

WHO’S PARTICIPATING IN NORTHCOTE POLITICS?

Candidates running for the Northcote Electorate:

Damian Light, United Future. Anne-Elise Smithson, Green Party.

Jonathan Coleman’s office gives this response:

“As Dr Coleman has a large volume of correspondence and media requests, he is unable to commit to answering questions on a weekly basis.”

Kaipatiki Local Board: Richard Hills actively tries to submit.

North Shore Counselors on the Auckland Council:

Requests were sent, but no response has been given.

If I didn’t manage to contact you, or you feel like you would like to contribute to this blog you may email us on kaipatiki@letstalklocal.co.nz

WHEN IS THE WEBSITE UPDATED?

The questions are sent once every 3 weeks, and the answers are posted the appropriate days starting Friday at 5pm, at the rate of one per day until all responses have been exhausted. If the individuals are seen in the community doing neighbourly work, this blog is dedicated to posting links to news articles to advertise the very realistic nature our politicians have. This does not include policy discussions or votes, only activities in the community.

If you aren’t a participant of this blog, but you feel articles about what you do in the community should be posted, get in touch with us! kaipatiki@letstalklocal.co.nz

WHY LETS TALK LOCAL?

Let’s Talk Local, formerly Northcote Politics, is my response to Nicky Hager’s “Dirty Politics” book, as well as an initiative of the Homegrown Youth Change-Makers program. I want to bring the politicians back into our community, find out more about them and recognize the goodness they bring to our community, while increasing engagement from the community so we can better understand the problems we need to deal with.
