A safe neighbourhood … is one that the residents own – Damian Light

How should we promote a safe neighbourhood?

A safe neighbourhood in my opinion is one that the residents own – if people are out and about, talking to each other, the neighbourhood looks after itself. We’re very lucky to have friendly neighbours in our area so I’m not worried about my area being safe.

Big part of it is connecting people – it’s so easy in a city to not meet people (ironically). Make a point of meeting your neighbours, introduce yourself and get to know them. You don’t have to be best friends but being able to recognise them and know their names means you can keep an eye on their place.
