NORTHCOTE: What do people need to do to respect Public Transport?

Damian Light, United Future

Respect is critical for public transport to work well. Uses need to respect each other (especially on crowded buses, trains and ferries). It’s easy to forget that everyone else is also in a hurry, so take a moment to let someone past. Don’t push into the line!

Respect the drivers and staff – they work hard to provide the service and while delays and mechanical issues are frustrating, it’s not the drivers fault so don’t take it out on them.

Also, for those not using public transport, give respect to those that do. Let the bus into your lane- there are probably more people on the bus than in your car and because they’re on the bus, there is less card on the road so they’re doing you a favour too!
